Our Story

PCNT was officially recognized  as a 501c3 non-profit organization (church), effective May 3, 2016. The church holds regular services, classes, meetings, and events, and can accept tax-deductible donations.

Individuals have stepped forward to be part of the Core Council leadership to guide the direction of the church. The Core Council meets on a monthly basis (more often, if necessary) to discuss projects, promotion, budget, and the business of the church. It consists of three to seven members who have met the qualifications for leadership based on the church’s bylaws.

PCNT holds weekly Sunday gatherings, most begin at 10:00 a.m. (see below), which are held at 2800 Cornerstone Pkwy., Unit 3 (across the parking lot from the Sears store). It is likely our congregation will move around the end of May 2017, so check local papers, the Facebook page, or contact our church office for updates to our new location. (970-749-9020 or PagosaCommunityNewThought@gmail.com).

Sunday services offer a variety of formats... everything from a lecture presentation, meditation, music, study group discussion, "virtual" speaker sermon, or DVD movie.

The Sunday service starts at 10:00AM and usually goes for about an hour. After the service is a time of fellowship, coffee and connection, and sometimes a special potluck celebration. This is a casual and welcoming atmosphere, and everyone is welcome.

Our Founding Minister

Prior to moving to Pagosa Springs in 2015, Rev. Carla served a Religious Science church in Parker, Colorado for more than 12 years. Rev. Carla is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher, as well as the author of several New Thought courses.

Rev. Carla Ryan has been learning, teaching, and practicing New Thought principles since 1993. She is both an ordained Religious Science Minister and an Interfaith Minister. She is passionate and open in sharing the Science of Mind teachings and philosophy, as well as the principles of other major world religions.

About a year after establishing PCNT, asthma-related issues (exacerbated by the high altitude) prompted she and her husband, Rev. Mike Ryan, to move to lower elevation. They now reside in Grand Junction, Colorado. Rev. Carla continues to be a resource for PCNT and a mentor to many New Thought students.

We are grateful for the gifts she brought to Pagosa Springs and the seeds of consciousness that are present in and growing through this church. We look forward to connecting with other like-minded people, serving the church and Pagosa community, and expanding this growing “family of heart.”

PCNT is currently unaffiliated with any large oversight organization. That may change as the group grows and decides what direction to go.

One option to consider is membership with the Affiliated New Thought Network (ANTN.org). Such affiliation would expand PCNT’s online presence through ANTN’s website directory of other independent New Thought churches and ministers, and provide connections to a spiritually-based, nationwide network and various resources.
